About this work
David steals the spear and water jug of King Saul, while the king and his subjects lie sleeping in a tent camp. In the background David shows the spear and the jug to Saul to show that he could have killed Saul but spared his life. Below the image a reference in Latin to the Bible text in 1 Sam. 26.
