Esther kneels before King Ahasuerus. The king points his scepter at her as a sign of affection. Esther requests that the king come with Haman to the feast she has prepared. On the right in the background is the continuation of the story. The king has the chronicles of the kingdom read to him in the evening. It states that Mordecai foiled an assassination attempt on the king's life. The king asks Haman, who stands by the bed, how someone who saved the king's life should be honored. In the background, it can be seen how Mordecai is paraded in the king's robe and on the king's horse, while Haman leads him around. Below the image, a reference in Latin to the Biblical text in Esther 5-6.
