About this work
The print consists of two parts. On the left, a young woman is weeping because she is not allowed to marry the man of her choice. Her mother warns her that otherwise she will lose her dowry. On the right, the young woman's suitor is about to leave the house. At the door, however, he comes into conflict with the marriage candidate of his girlfriend.
