About this work
Monument to Jan Nieuwenhuyzen, established by De Maatschappij tot Nut van 't Algemeen. In the center, an inverted torch, a snake biting its own tail as a symbol of eternity, and a burning torch. At the bottom in the margin, the front and back of a commemorative medal made on the occasion of Nieuwenhuyzen's death.
