About this work

Adam and Eve are led out from under the tables of the law by personifications of the three divine virtues. Each points to a scene in the background. Hope (Spes) points them to the birth of Christ, Love (Charitas) to the crucified Christ, and Faith (Fides) points to the resurrection of Christ. In the air, the dove of the Holy Spirit, and on the clouds, God the Father, flanked by Peace (Pax) and Justice (Justitia). In the margin, a Bible quote from 1 Tim. 2 (Sic) in Latin.
