About this work
When a greedy farmer refuses to help David and his men, they threaten to punish him. Abigail, the farmer's wife, kneels before David and offers him and his soldiers food and drink. With this she satisfied David. Print is part of a series on the eight Beatitudes of Christ and illustrates the Beatitude: Blessed are the peacemakers. On a square plaque at the bottom this text from Matt. 5:9 in Latin. At the bottom in the margin a verse in Latin about the Beatitude and the scene.
