About this work

Allegory on the succession of Leopold I by his son Joseph I, 1687. Leopold I (incorrectly labeled as Leopold II) stands on a triumphal chariot and hands over his crown of Hungary to Joseph I. The chariot is drawn by Turks. At the top is a medallion with a portrait of Charles II of Spain, flanked by depictions of victories over the Turks. At the bottom is a scene of the coronation procession in Pressburg, present-day Bratislava.
