About this work
Monument with the portrait of Leendert Klein, preacher in the Mennonite congregation in Wormerveer. The portrait is flanked by a skull and a Bible, on which a sleeping putto rests. He holds a extinguished torch and a paper with the date of death. Below is an inscription with his function and the years he served in his congregation. Next to the monument stand Faith, with cross and censer, and Religion. Father Time sits kneeling beside the monument, writing in a book. In the foreground sits a putto with books, a goblet entwined by a snake, a burning lamp, and a sheaf of corn.
