About this work

On a monument, next to allegorical figures representing Faith and Religion, stands a commemorative text for Jean Thomas Griot, preacher of the Walloon Church in Amsterdam. Above it is his portrait in an oval crowned with a skull. Father Time holds a sheet of paper with his date of death. In front of the monument lie a broken torch and an hourglass, and a still-burning lamp stands. Two putti sit on the ground with a book.
