About this work

On a monument with allegorical figures representing Faith and Religion, there is a commemorative text for the Amsterdam preacher Pieter Jan Cramer. Above it his silhouette portrait in an oval crowned with a skull. Father Time holds a sheet of paper with his date of death. In front of the monument lie a broken torch and an hourglass and a still burning lamp. Two putti sit with a book on the ground.
