About this work
View through a gate with curtains of the allegorical monument to Prince William V, who died on 9 April 1806. Flanking the tomb with the prince's portrait are the standing figures of Truth and Constancy (right) and Immortality (left). Seated at the base of the monument on the right is the writing History, on the left a mother with three children. An eight-line verse appears in the caption. The print is accompanied by a printed subscription notice and an announcement. See also the later pendant.
