According to the eulogy below the image these are the personifications of Humanity (right) and Religion (left). In the background a dome upon which the word: Virtus. Above left, a putto floats above the tomb monument representing immortality. In his hand an ouroboros, a snake biting its own tail, as a mythical symbol for eternity.
