About this work

Decorations at the residence of Mr. J. Verbruggen in 's Lands Geschutgieterij in The Hague on 8 March 1766 on the occasion of the majority of Prince William V. Painted panel with allegorical representation with the stadtholder. William V on a throne is assisted by Father Time and Mercury. On the right sits the Dutch maiden with the coats of arms of the Republic in her hand on the Dutch lion. In the foreground Mars, Cybele, with the mural crown on her head, and Art. Numbered at the top: IV.
