About this work
Satirical print in which the French sans-culottes in five separate scenes make the various European countries eat the French bread of freedom, 1793. John Bull (England) is, in the center, led by two sans-culottes with loaves of bread. Around him, the same happens with the Netherlands, Savoy, Germany, and Italy. In the top left, the Dutchman is forced to swallow the bread at bayonet point while being robbed of his money, with the Scheldt river between his legs.
