About this work
Emblem with an allegory of musical art depicted as a man playing a harp, dressed as a classical figure. The poem below the image wittily describes the scene in the landscape behind him: Pan and Apollo play their instruments and are judged by Midas, who listens with donkey ears. The biblical King David plays his harp for animals. On the verso is a portion of another poem.
