About this work
Sheet with two depictions of Indian rituals, respectively a birth ceremony and a naming ceremony. Top: A child refuses to nurse from its mother. When the child refuses the breast for the third time, it is thrown into the Ganges. Bottom: The child receives a name during a ceremony in which it lies on a cloth. Below the depictions an inscription in French.
