Sculptural group with an allegory of the Strength of Amsterdam on the east side of the Burgerzaal in the Town Hall on the Dam in Amsterdam, above the arch to the stairs leading to the entrance and exit of the Burgerzaal. In the center, the Amsterdam Maiden flanked by two lions. On her head, the city crown, above which an eagle with the imperial crown. On her chest, the three Andreaskruizen. In her hands, a palm branch as a symbol of victory, fame, and peace, and an olive branch as a symbol of peace. To her left, Minerva, goddess of wisdom. To her right, a female personification of Strength, with Hercules' lion skin and a sword-like object. To the left and right, four putti with attributes having a double meaning. To the left, a putto with a cornucopia as a symbol of prosperity and the element Earth. To the right of that, a putto with Mercury's winged helmet and caduceus as a symbol of trade and the element Air (the winged helmet).
