Satirical Print on the Exhibition of Living Masters in The Hague, 1839

Satirical print on the exhibition of paintings by living masters in The Hague in 1839. The awarded works turned out to be mostly by artists from Brabant and, according to rumors, already owned by Baron de Ceva, adjutant of Prince Frederik and member of the exhibition committee. While the shop is being boarded up, Baron de Ceva departs with a wheelbarrow loaded with money bags and a painting. On the left, several crates with paintings ready for transport, one with the label 'Rijks m(useum) Haa(rlem)' and the other with 'Musee russe péter(sbourg)'.
