About this work

English lady, seen from the front, with hair combed tightly back but with frizzled curls hanging on the forehead and from the temples, in which a bow. She has a black fabric mask for the face that is attached with cords over the head. High-closed neckerchief with scalloped edge falling over the shoulders and closed in the front with a bow. Dressed in a gown consisting of a short bodice with high waist, wide 7/8 sleeves, on a long, ample skirt which is lifted from the front. Underneath the light petticoat is visible which falls to the shoes. The left forearm is inserted in a large fur muff. No. 13 from the series Ornatus Muliebris Anglicanus.
