About this work
Cartoon on the Spanish suppression of the Cuban uprising in 1896. The Spanish governor Martinez Campos is replaced by General Valeriano Weyler y Nicolau. This change of power is depicted as a bullfight in which the old torero (Campos) is replaced by a new one (Weyler), in the middle the wild bull Cuba. Published in the supplement of 'De Kroniek' of 9 February 1896.
