About this work
Satirical print on the Spanish suppression of the Cuban uprising in 1896. Spanish governor Martinez Campos is replaced by General Valeriano Weyler y Nicolau. This change of power is depicted as a bullfight where the old matador (Campos) is replaced by a new one (Weyler), with the wild bull Cuba in the middle. Published in the supplement of 'De Kroniek' on 9 February 1896.
