About this work
An allegorical female figure with a liberty cap on a stick sits in a temple, with a frame of portraits in medallions. To the left and right these are portraits of patriots from 1786-1787 and at the top ten portraits of persons from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In front of the pillars on either side a Batavian, one with a lion and the other with a keeshond. Hanging on the pillars are, among others, representations of the Battle of Doggersbank and fights in Amsterdam in 1787.
