Temple for the Netherlands, 1794

Allegorical monument in the form of a temple with centrally the enthroned Batavian Liberty between Religion, Justice, Moses with the tablets of the law and a Batavian. The front portal of the temple is hung with portraits of historical heroes and patriots. In front of the throne Hope and Gratitude with four children (Commerce, Art, Agriculture and Fishing) with a beehive. On the left and right of the temple stand two Batavians as guards. On either side columns with hanging medallions with representations of important events from national history. The print is accompanied by an explanation.
