About this work
Allegory on the beginning of the 19th century, 1800. In the center right a round open temple with four columns containing a statue of a god, possibly Janus. The round arch decorated with the signs of the zodiac. In the center left a column with flags bearing the names of countries, at the top Holland. In front of this column the god of war Mars on horseback. On the left a pyramid with an overview of important events from the previous 18th century. Furthermore various allegorical figures, in the sky the year 1800.
