About this work

Allegorical monument for Joachim Maurits baron van Kropff, fallen during the defense of Klundert against the French army, 25 February 1793. In front of a grave stele, two leaning mourning figures, Constitution and Patriotism. In the sky Fame with two wreaths. On the monument a medallion with a portrait. In the background the defense of the fortress and the retrieval of his body from the water. In the caption an eight-line verse. The print is accompanied by an explanation.
