About this work

The Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius as high priest (pontifex maximus) leads a sacrificial ritual. Around him stand various figures and a bull. To the left a youth plays a wind instrument, and a young man holds an axe in his hand. In the lower margin a line of text in Latin and two lines of text in Italian.
