About this work

On a column Emperor Claudius on horseback. In the background scenes from his life. On the left the construction of a canal connecting the Tiber with the sea. On the right a naval battle that was reenacted in his famous Naumachia in his honor. Cartouches on the column show his marriage to Agrippina and his patronage of the arts. The print has a Latin inscription.
