About this work
Half-length portrait, standing behind a table on which a book and a skull lie. The left hand rests on the skull, the right hand holds a handkerchief with tassels. In the background, people and camels at a well. In an oval with a border inscription. The oval itself is within an ornamental frame in which two women are depicted at the top, one with a music book and one with a lute. At the bottom two peacocks. Pendant to the portrait of his husband Jacques de la Faille.
