About this work

Breach of the Sint-Antoniesdijk or Diemerzeedijk outside Amsterdam on 5 March 1651, caused by high water and a strong northwesterly storm. Water flows through the hole in the dijk, with spectators in panic on both sides of the hole. In the background the towers of Amsterdam. Bottom left the first part of the legend A-C.
