Harlequin Actionist, 1720

Satire on the stock speculators. The harlequin Bombario and a fool lift a curtain revealing the stock trading at the Quincampoix coffee house, where a large crowd of speculators jostles to buy shares being shouted from a podium. In the foreground, Mercury is imprisoned in a cage. Also used as a title page for the comedy of the same name by Pieter Langendijk from 1720.
