About this work

St. Aloysius Gonzaga kneels before the vision of Mary and Child in heaven. He hands them a lily and points to the ground, where symbols of worldly power (crown, biretta, and orb) lie. In a cartouche below the print, the Latin inscription "Ego dilecto meo, et ad me conversio eivs. Cant. 7".
