Allegory on the legal procedure

The personification of Knowledge of Good and Evil sits on a throne. She is flanked by the personifications Justice (with sword and scales) and Naked Truth (with a sun as headgear). Under the cloak of Justice is the child Innocence. Above the throne an oval frame with a representation of Prudence and an oval frame with the portrait of Emperor Justinian. Knowledge of Good and Evil judges the legal case between the personification Good Cause (a woman with a set square and spirit level) and the personification Bad Cause (a blindfolded woman). In the background against the wall medallions with motifs that can negatively influence justice (such as greed, death, bankruptcy). The print is a proof for a title page.
