About this work

Poetry looks up to the personified Divine Truth, who sits on a cloud. The personification of Temperance points to putti bringing books to Poetry. A woman with a flame above her head (symbolising zeal for faith) points to a cornucopia. The scene is enclosed in a cartouche decorated with medallions containing depictions of virtues.
