About this work

The enthroned Poetry with lyre, book and writing quill is illuminated by Truth sitting with a mirror on a cloud. Diligence and Faith with flame on their heads and cornucopia accompany Poetry. To the right stand two men: Theophilus and Luke the Evangelist. Surrounding the image is a frame with twelve medallions depicting events from the lives of the apostles.
