About this work

Allegory on the Great Northern War and the Peace of Travendal concluded between Denmark and Sweden, 18 August 1700. Allegory in which animals symbolize the warring parties. Centrally, the elephant (Denmark) trampling a swan (Holstein). Left, the Dutch Lion; right, a knight with raised sword. The print is accompanied by a verse in two columns.
