About this work

A boy reads a document while an older man in the background listens to him. With two poems. This print refers to the story of a man who returns land to the impoverished son of the deceased man from whom he had bought the land. The Collection of Sand and Pebbles (Shasekishû) is an anthology of 134 humorous Buddhist stories, compiled between 1279 and 1283 by the monk Mujû (1226-1312).
