About this work
The woodcutter Kôsagi stands by a waterfall, with a gourd and his axe beside him. The poor woodcutter wanted to provide his parents with rice wine (sake) every day, but when one day he had no money for sake he filled his gourd with water from the Yôrô waterfall. The gods changed the water into sake because he cared so well for his parents. The first poem: The boy drinks the water from the waterfall first and then offers his parents a cup of spiced rice wine. Second poem: Feeding the elderly, but also immortals come here to drink the rice wine of the mist.
