The actor Iwai Tojaku (1776-1847) in a female role as Oyana, here depicted at night, with a sword in her hands to ward off an attack from the pilgrim Banryû (on the right panel). Scene from the play Tanomiaru gohiiki no Tsuna, performed in the Kawarazaki theater in 1832. Left panel of a diptych. With two poems.
