About this work
The actor Ichikawa Danjûrô VII (1791-1859) is helped into his costume by two servants, while the third holds a mirror, in which the actor's face is reflected. He is probably preparing for the role of the thief Azamaru from the play Kawaranu hana Genji no kaomise, which was performed in 1827 at the Ichimura theater in Edo. With three poems.
