About this work
Minamoto no Yoshitsune seated on a brocade cushion, holding a sake cup. Before him stands a ceremonial sake kettle; behind him typical New Year's decoration, such as a miniature pine and plum tree with a crane and turtle—all symbols of a long and happy life. Accompanied by three poems; left leaf of a diptych.
