About this work
On a column Emperor Caligula on horseback. In the background scenes from his life. To the left he orders an army to search for shells, to the right ships are used as a bridge on Caligula's order. At the bottom of the column in a cartouche the murder of Caligula by soldiers of the Praetorian Guard. In another cartouche the insane behavior of the emperor is shown: Caligula lies naked on a mountain of gold coins. The print has a Latin inscription. The print is part of a twelve-part series about Roman emperors.
