About this work
The workshop of an engraver. At a table by the window, a man works with a burin on a copper plate. The plate rests on a cushion. At the same table sits an apprentice. He watches the boy, seated on a chair, copying a large sculpture in the workshop. On the floor lies his first sketch. Through the doorway, a printing workshop is visible. There, a man works at a press while the boy next to him inks the copper plate. Below the image, four lines of text in Latin. The print is part of an album.
