About this work
The workshop of a printmaker. At a table by the window a man works with a burin on a copper plate. The plate lies on a cushion. At the same table sits an apprentice. He looks at the boy who, sitting on a chair, copies the large sculpture in the workshop. On the ground lies his first sketch. Through the doorway there is a view of a printing workshop. There a man works on a plate press, while the boy next to him inks the copper plate. Four lines of text in Latin below the depiction.
