Susanna in the Bath

A Court Garden. In the foreground Susanna is identifiable, who wants to take a bath in a closed part of the garden. Her maids have just closed the gate of the garden and are on their way to fetch balm and oils. (Daniel 13: 17-18). Two judges, who spied on the naked Susanna, come forward and try to grab her (Daniel 13:20-24). From the house in the background the inhabitants stream out to see what is going on (Daniel 13:26). Two peacocks (symbol of pride) and two rabbits (symbol of lust) are also depicted. The series shows different aspects of courtship and some examples from the Old Testament.
