About this work
A golden cup promised by stadtholder Willem IV to the Hague civic guard and presented by Princess Anna on 8 May 1753 after his death. The cup is decorated with cornucopias, rocailles, garlands, rocaille cartouches with putti, and rocaille cartouches with texts. The lid is crowned with a crowned lion holding a crowned shield with the text Honi soit qui mal y pense.
