About this work

Allegorical representation made for the wedding of Aernout van Citters and Sara Jacoba Ockerse, married in Middelburg on 2 April 1737. The marriage god Hymen receives the couple and their retinue and leads them to the altar in a temple. In the sky putti with a cornucopia and Fame. The representation is framed in an ornamental border, crowned with the coats of arms of the couple, and on the plinth Liberty and a river god.
