About this work

Situated 240 kilometres north of Beijing, the Chengde Summer Palace encompasses palaces, administrative buildings, temples, and gardens. Emperor Kangxi launched the complex's construction in 1703, a project that extended from 1708 until the end of his life in 1722. This print showcases the harmonious integration of the gardens with the surrounding landscape, including lakes, fields, and forests.
