About this work

This building was Emperor Kangxi's private study, where he would host celebrations for the Double Seventh Festival (the seventh day of the seventh month), with his consorts and high-ranking officials. Featuring a Buddhist altar, it also served for some time as the residence of the emperor's mother, Empress Dowager Xiaohui.
