About this work

On the left in the foreground, Christ sits and points to a veiled poor widow, one of his disciples. Richly dressed people approach the offering chest to throw in much money. The widow has thrown in only two coins, but according to Christ, this is more than the rich do, because she gave out of her poverty. Below the representation, a reference in Latin to the biblical text in Mark 12:41.
