About this work
A king or emperor sits on a throne. A prisoner is led before him by a priest and two soldiers. It is the task of the king, together with the rest of the ruling class, to uphold the rule of law and administer justice. In the background, a military march and the execution of a criminal by the sword. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a series on the different tasks of the three estates.
